Develop Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models for electro-mechanical phenomena in batteries.
Use models to simulate expansion/ contraction stress simulations on welds, glued parts, assess material integrity, assess structural reliability and safety in battery components and assemblies. Use simulation tools to guide design decisions, troubleshoot failures, and optimize performance.
Experience in following software: ABACUS (preferred), COMSOL, ANSYS/ FLUENT.
Expertise in making reduced order models for use in applications.
Utilize 3D design tools to develop intricate components and assemblies for lithium battery systems.
Take complete ownership of product design, from initial concept to production launch and ramp-up.
Drive product performance enhancement while minimizing cost and weight.
Spearhead the development of novel technologies, supported by early process development.
Engage in hands-on prototyping to validate design concepts.
Define precise specifications, including dimensions, functionalities, performance, and manufacturability.
Meticulously release 2D part and assembly drawings, ensuring accuracy.
Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams within the organization, including manufacturing, testing, NPI, and supply chain.
Be prepared for occasional travel to support production launch and ramp activities, including supplier visits and on-site support at company facilities.

Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural, fluid, and electro-thermal simulations.
Proficiency in one of the following software: ABACUS (preferred), COMSOL, ANSYS/ FLUENT.
Proficiency in coding to develop and execute user interfaces for testing and analysis purposes.
Demonstrated commitment to taking ownership and thriving in a fast-paced, small team environment.
Proven ability to bring product concepts to life, from CAD design to hands-on prototyping.

Proficiency in the following is a plus:
Pseudo-2D models (PyBaMM), single particle models
Python, optimization algorithms, libraries such as Pandas, Scikit learn and visualization libraries.
Experience with a range of manufacturing processes, such as plastic injection molding, metal stamping, thermoforming, welding/brazing, plating, heat treating, and bonding. Direct machine shop experience is advantageous.
Proficiency in designing for high-volume assembly, both manual and automated.  Ability to define comprehensive test plans, design relevant test setups, and analyze resulting data.
Meticulous attention to detail, along with excellent documentation and reporting skills.
